It’s also highly efficient, predictable, and reliable. Tidal power has several advantages – it requires no fuel, and therefore produces zero emissions. Today, the Sihwa Lake station produces 5.5 billion kWh of electricity annually. Malo, France. This barrage was the world’s largest tidal power plant for 45 years until the Sihwa Lake Tidal Power Station was built. Fast forward to 1966, and the first modern tidal barrage was built in St. when ocean power was used to grind grains. Tidal power isn’t exactly new – in fact, it dates back to around 900 A.D. They can also be built offshore or connected to land, which usually means there can be more of them than barrages. These lagoons work like tidal barrages, however, they would be able to produce power both when the tide comes in and when the tide goes out. Tidal lagoons, which are a fairly new concept, are another way to harness tidal energy. Example Mechanics Problems Learn Physics Compendium. When the tide goes back out, the water is released through the dam and its kinetic movement is used to power turbines in the dam. Tidal energy is the energy from the bulk movement of water due to tides. When the tide comes in, ocean water is channeled into a large basin behind a dam. These turbines are powered by the flow of the tide when it comes in and when it goes out. When the ocean moves, it spins the turbines and the turbine movement produces electricity.Īnother example is a tidal barrage, which is similar to a dam and takes advantage of the various heights of the ocean at different stages of the tide. One example is underwater turbines (similar to wind turbines). There are several ways to harness the ocean’s energy and turn it into electricity. This makes tidal energy something that can constantly be captured, both day and night. The ocean’s tides, however, are predictable, which means their energy is easier to control than the energy from of wind or the sun. ![]() While wind energy and solar energy can produce a large amount of electricity, they can’t always be regulated the wind doesn’t always blow and the sun doesn’t always shine. That power, which is usually electricity, is called tidal power, and it could be a pretty big key to the future of our energy world. We all know that the ocean is constantly moving, which means it was only a matter of time before someone decided to harness the ocean’s energy and turn it into power. ![]() No need to refresh your datasets or import data periodically.

![]() If there was a way to disable a plugin's response to program change messages within mainstage then I'm sure that would solve my problem, but I don't see anything like that so far. For instance in one concert the prophet plugin works fine on mainstage patch 4 but on patch 5 it changes to a different sound, whereas in another concert it's the other way around, so it's not always doing something strange in response to the same midi message. It seems that the prophet is responding to program change messages, but in a way that I can't predict. Also if I connect a usb keyboard and make patch changes with that, then in this concert at least the prophet remains unchanged, but I have had exactly the same issue using this usb keyboard in other concerts. If I change mainstage patches with the cursor then the prophet does not change and everything works perfectly. ![]() I'm not using any aliases, always separate instances of the plugin, and yes I can get independent windows for each instance. I'm becoming convinced that this is a bug in the prophet software. I'm also having the same problem using V1 or V2 of the arturia prophet. Yes I'm using mainstage 2.1 though I also had exactly the same problem with Mainstage 1. I have tried saving both the concert and the prophet program on the correct sound before I start changing patches but it makes no difference. I've got some of Arturia's other analogue synth plugins running in the same concert but it's only ever the prophet that behaves like this. The prophet will always change itself to the same program every time I repeat the experiment on the same patch, but interestingly for each different mainstage patch it selects a different program to use as its favourite. This happens with lots of different mainstage patches within my concert. So when I come back to my original patch (Skin Deep Split) the prophet will be playing the wrong sound even though the minimoog on the other channel strip is fine.Īfter this point no amount of program change messages will alter the prophet program - it stays on the same wrong one. I can even watch this happening by having the prophet's editor screen open. Now if I send a program change message from my Nord Lead in order to change the mainstage patch then the patch changes as expected but in addition the prophet plugin on the patch that I've just come from gets changed to a different program, in this case one called 'Spindown' (named after another song). The prophet is set on a program (preset?) that i've called LowSkinDeep. ![]() There are two channel strips in the patch, one running Arturia's Minimoog and the other running the problematic Prophet plugin. I have a mainstage patch called Skin Deep Split cos the tune is called Skin Deep and I've split the keyboard. Let me give you an example of what my problem is. The sampler instrument idea would be tough in this case as I'm playing quite involved parts with a live band. Firstly thanks to everyone for your replies - glad I'm not trying to solve this on my own any more. “The Sun Never Sets on the British Empire” by Tom Clare: This song promotes colonialism and the superiority of the British Empire, which has racial undertones. “Where the Watermelons Grow” by Bayard Rustin: This song perpetuates racial stereotypes related to African Americans. “Eenie Meenie” by Justin Bieber and Sean Kingston: Some critics argue that the song contains lyrics that perpetuate stereotypes about Black women. “Brown Girl in the Ring” by Boney M: While the song is based on a traditional Caribbean children’s game, it has been criticized for the exoticization of the “brown girl.” “Massa’s in de Cold Ground” by Stephen Foster: Another song that reflects the racial sentiments of the 19th-century American South. “Indian Love Call” by Rudolf Friml, Otto Harbach, and Oscar Hammerstein II: This song, and many others like it from the early 20th century, portrays Native Americans in a stereotypical and romanticized manner. “If You Wanna Be Happy” by Jimmy Soul: This song perpetuates the stereotype of the attractiveness of women based on their race. “Old Man River” from the musical “Show Boat”: While not necessarily racist in intent, its original lyrics depicted the hardships faced by Black laborers in a manner that many consider stereotypical.
